I Love Yarn!

I'm Aimée, a complete and total yarn geek. Welcome to my blog about my extreme obsession with all things yarn! I am a crocheter who also happens to knit. I have a fine taste in yarn and a stash that extends for miles (literally). Geek out with me here and on social media!

A new year with new goals, experiences, joys, unexpected surprises both good and bad, challenges, opportunities, and more. Who knows exactly what 2019 will hold for us all. As for me, I am hoping for some peace, balance, good times, grace during the less than good times, a whole lot of love and family, and, of course, yarn.

Coffee! Coffee! Coffee! is like a velvety cup of mocha with rich browns and tans. I was originally thinking of making a hat but thought that this would make a great around the neck accessory for Mary. Also, I was thinking knit instead of crochet because Mary is an avid crocheter, and I don't often see her with something knit. I finally decided on the Why Wait? cowl pattern by Susan Ashcroft. I couldn't wait to cast on!

Maybe it's the chill in the air. Maybe it's life piling up. Maybe it's because there isn't much football on that I care about (come on, Bears!!) or I'm patiently waiting for the post-season to start (GO CUBS GO!). Maybe it's just because I love all my yarn so much. Whatever the reason, I've had a horrible case of project A.D.D. lately and I have the urge to start every project immediately.

Last week played out just as I expected. Much of my time was used prepping for back to school and very little time was spent with my yarn. But fear not...progress was made on some projects. Both my crochet test and shawl collar with a basket pattern projects are still on my hooks almost finished and a few more have made their way into my queue. But all will be completed this week because this week is Retreat Week!
Every year, the Crocheters of the Lakes chapter of the Crochet Guild of America has a retreat for its members where we croc...

I've extended this week's Monday into Tuesday because Monday didn't allow me nearly enough time to check everything off my to do list. It makes me wish I had Evie's powers from Out of this World where I could just stop time for a bit and then start it up again.
Yes...out of all the super powers I could ask for, this would be it.
Although...I'd totally be down for Samantha Stevens' nose wiggle powers and would dig having Doc Brown's DeLorean. But having a little extra time may help me bust through my stash!
I have been all sorts of productive this week. Cowls ha...

Yes, Stitches Midwest was such a blast that it's taking me 3 days to talk about it! A couple days ago, I talked about some of the new dyers I met. Today, let's chat about some of my favorites that I like to visit year after year and show after show.
ModeKnit
Oh Annie Modesitt and Kathleen Pascuzzi...how I adore you both!! Their happiness about all things yarn and color is ever apparent in their ModeKnit booth. And the yarns...ohhhhh the yarns...I changed my mind about four or five times trying to decide which color and which base to choose. I finally walked aw...
