Visits with some of my favorite dyers!

Yes, Stitches Midwest was such a blast that it's taking me 3 days to talk about it! A couple days ago, I talked about some of the new dyers I met. Today, let's chat about some of my favorites that I like to visit year after year and show after show.

ModeKnit

Oh Annie Modesitt and Kathleen Pascuzzi...how I adore you both!! Their happiness about all things yarn and color is ever apparent in their ModeKnit booth. And the yarns...ohhhhh the yarns...I changed my mind about four or five times trying to decide which color and which base to choose. I finally walked away with two skeins of ModeSock in the Carol Peletier colorway. With these 764 yards of merino, bamboo and nylon, I'm thinking a nice, drapey vest is in order. Which one, I still don't know for sure, but I'll be excited when I do!

A Hundred Ravens

I somehow exercised an extreme amount of restraint in Kate Bachus' A Hundred Ravens booth. Minis, I tell you, as far as the eye could see. Such lovely colors paired with contrasting yarn for stripes and color work and variegated yarns made for swooning. I chose this skein of Tyche, a 4 ply 100% merino wool yarn in Siberian Iris. As I told my friend, Deb, I like it because it's says iris without screaming IRIS. Not too bold, not too soft. It's definitely a Goldilocks appropriate just right!

Twisted Fiber Art

I was first introduced to Twisted Fiber Art at YarnCon 2015 where I picked up a gorgeous cake of Tasty Large Evolution to make the Plumeria Frill scarf. This year when I walked into the Michelle's Assortments booth, I saw Michelle Stead's beautiful Twisted Minstrel pattern using Ariel Evolution. To the Twisted Fiber Art booth I went! I picked up a cake in the Le Cirque colorway, a gray gradient that I can't wait to stitch up!

Leading Men Fiber Arts

If Steve and Andy are at a show, I am in their booth! It never fails. I love their colors. I love their colorway names. I love their fibers. I now have at least 5 projects worth of their yarn. I need to get crackin'!

I love this skein of Leading Men Fiber Arts Showcase in Yarnnekoeken, a new colorway in their shop from their trek to this year's Zombie Knitpocalypse. I really want a pair of socks in this color! I'm thinking this would look good as a pair of River Bed Socks but we'll see. I'd also love this in a scarf.

I also picked up a Soliloquy mini set in their Merlot Gradient. As a crocheter, I can't begin to tell you how much I love the yardage in this set. 657 yards! It's destined for a shawl that I can't tell you about yet because it's a gift :) As soon as I make it and gift it, I will share it all with you.

Three Irish Girls, Steven Be & Halos of Hope

This is a very special skein of yarn with a purpose. Dyed by Three Irish Girls and inspired by Steven Be is this exclusive colorway that helps support Halos of Hope. Proceeds from the purchase of this pretty skein of Springvale Worsted in the Hope Springs Eternal colorway help support Halos of Hope and their mission to provide comfort to cancer patients across the country.

At Stitches Midwest, they launched their BeYond: A Celebration of Life Event, a year long event that, as stated on their website, celebrates "the brave, the beautiful and the blessed BEYOND cancer." They're asking participants to put on their thinking caps (haha!) and create a hat that celebrates life BeYond cancer. Hats will be collected through July 1, 2017 to then be displayed at Stitches Midwest 2017 with winners being announced during the same event. After the contest, the hats will be auctioned off to help raise money for Halos' shipping costs for 2017. For more information about how you can be a part of this extraordinary event, check out the Halos of Hope BeYond page.

If you've never been to a Stitches, I highly recommend it. Great vendors and presentations, fun classes that help you expand your knowledge, and yarn love, inspiration and enabling in every corner! The next event is Stitches Texas taking place September 22-25 at the Omni Mandalay Hotel & Irving Convention Center in Irving, Texas. I won't be able to get out there but hope all of you who do have a blast!
